I want to determine the version of an old IBM Thinkpad laptop that isn't functioning properly. I am using another computer to write this. I can't turn on the laptop for certain reason so I don't know the version of it.

It's the classic, black laptop with the red button on the middle.

I will appreciate it very much if you send me sites of the manufacturer with pictures of different versions of the laptop.

flip the machine over
u shoudl seee a bunch of white stickers
the one jsut below ur processor fan tht does not say MAC address is the version of ur think pad, this is right before the serial number(s/n)
or simply go to the ibm website if u still can and choose autodetect so that ibm will be able to determine the correct version of the machine
http://www.ibm.com/products/finder/us/finders?pg=ddfinder

so some distance, we've placed XP on each and all of the ibm's we've had right here. My considerable different Pam became tech help for Intel on the spot, and that all of them had ibm's. verify around and notice if there's a license obtainable to apply. Vista does not artwork nicely on many of the older ibm's through video card.
