You cant, they need to be planted from seed each year, if you particularly like this crop, save some seeds from inside the tomatoes, dry them out and keep them in a dry cool place till next year, then pop them in the soil

even if you could get them to survive the season, the plant would not be fruitful like the year before.. i have even had seedlings grow the next year and they are not as good.

tomatoes are seasonal plants once you get the fruit they are done just pull them out and gargabe the pot

after you get all the tomatoes, the plant is no longer any good. its a seasonal plant.
