Transfer students are defined as students who are no longer in high school and have enrolled in college courses. Students who have completed college work and apply for admission prior to graduating from high school will be evaluated as "new freshmen" with regard to admission, scholarship, and registration, regardless of the number of college hours completed. The following indicates the two types of transfer applicants:

1) Transfer applicant with less than 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of transfer credit completed at the time of application- High school transcripts, ACT score, and college transcripts are required for admission and scholarship purposes.

2) Transfer applicant with 30 or more semester (45 quarter) credits- College transcripts (not high school transcripts or ACT) are required for admission and scholarship purposes. Credit earned through Advanced Placement or other special exams will not used in calculating the 30 semester hours.

To be competitive for admission, the following recommendations have been made:

* Be living in harmony with the BYU Honor Code and the BYU Dress and Grooming Standards.
* Earn a transfer GPA above the B+ range . The higher your transfer GPA is, the more likely you are to be admitted. To compete for academic scholarships, your transfer GPA should be in the A range.
* Take approximately 50 percent of your classes in general education subjects: English, mathematics, physical and biological sciences, social sciences, foreign language, and humanities.
* Attend LDS Institute of Religion classes where available.
