Talk to the seller...he/she will give you fair account of what it is they have on offer - also look at their 'record' (how much stuff they've sold, and the feedback - that should ease your wee concern...if they don't have a great deal of 'good' feedback, then look elsewhere on eBay).

Ebay is an awesome place to buy things. People are generally honest about what they sell. READ all of the fine print in the ad and you won't make a mistake. I have bought digital cameras, Bose speakers, computer parts and more expensive things and have been delighted with the prices and the service. I use only PayPal for my payment, then you have a recourse and proof of purchase. If something is wrong, they will stand behind you. You don't need a credit card for it, they will deduct the money right out of your bank account...have fun and good Luck!

Depends on the description of the game. If the seller states it's in working condition then it should work but if you received it and it doesn't work you will need to let the staff of Hastings know and they would proceed from there to get your money back. Same goes with Amazon and Ebay, they both have company policies. Some sellers also have return policys and such. Before you buy anything you always have to check if the item is in working condition. When a seller states and sells an item in working condition but when you receive the item and it doesn't work they broke an agreement with policy rules for amazon/ebay/hastings. You will receive your money back and you have the option to give them a bad rating.

Ebay is fairly safe. Again check the seller's feedback etc. If you are buying a mobile check with other online stores to make sure that you are getting a good price. I wanted a mobile and found that the cheapest was Orange itself and the same mobile on ebay was about £30 dearer. Also be careful if you buy CDs & DVDs as they could be a pirate.

eBay is generally very safe to use. My advice would be to not use anyone with less than 99% positive feedback, and when they have negative feedback, look at it to see what the problem is. As for payment, pay through PayPal - it's buy far the best & most secure way of paying. eBay has a good system of ensuring that those who do commit fraud are caught.

I've bought many items from Ebay, and ever really had one problem ... that was for a hard drive that was never delivered to me, and both Ebay and PayPal were about as helpful to me as a chocolate fireguard. I lost out, as did others from the same seller, by all accounts. (I hasten to add that I went over the 30 days before reporting the incident to Ebay, but that was due to my being hospitalised at the time.)

Buying bigger items like that is always risky. My advice would be:
1) check the user's ratings
2) find out where the phone will be shipped from (I would be wary if they were from China/HK)
3) find out if they offer full returns/refunds
4) find out if the phone comes with warrenty (many of the new ones do)
