The baby is alive from conception. The heart-beat shows up on an ultrasound from about 4-6 weeks. You can tell the gender at about 18 weeks, but only if the baby is sitting the right way, though it is easy to be wrong with an ultrasound. An amnio is almost never wrong as it looks at the dna of the baby.

does she have the vanishing twin syndrome? It sounds like it to me.I even have that to the place one toddler the sack collapsed,the different toddler is doing great.the toddler that didnt make it with the aid of sack collapsing is soaking up by itself.My surgeon merely exams on it with on ultrasound each and every 4 weeks. i'm 17 a million/2 weeks niow. i found out this all occurred while i became 7 weeks.go do I seek on yahoo & style in vanishing twin syndrome that's going to help out alot.

the way the question was made up is funny - ur baby IS a baby from the very day of conceiving. and the baby's gender is already determined from the very beginning. but ultrasound can show you the baby's gender around 5.5 months.

sex organs develop by the 13th week of pregnancy but you usually cant tell until the 20 week ulrasound if your lucky and the baby decides to show its genitals. I have 2 kids and couldnt tell what either was until they were born which was ok with me good luck
