Sounds like a dictatorship to me.

That's not what was said. That quote has been used many times to illustrate that President Bush is trying to set up an authoritorian government, and that's just not the case.
What was SAID was that the countries who chose not to help us, and to continue to harbor terrorists, were against us. What else would you call a country that harbors terrorists? Heroes?

For those who say we're living with a dictatorship, I would say that you guys are ignorant. Sorry. But I've spoken to Germans who remember living under Hitler, and there is NO comparison.
Want to see a dictatorship? Move to or visit Iran. There you'll see that not only are they living under a dictatorship, but many people have been brainwashed.
I have two friends in Iran. One is in his twenties, and absolutely HATES their current government. The other is seventeen (I'm a little uncomfortable being friends with someone eight years younger than me, but as long as we only talk about politics, religion, culture, languages, and stuff like that, I see no problem with it. There's nothing untoward in our conversations.) and he's very much for his government, anti-Israel, and anti-Bush.
At least in America, we can still have a difference of opinion. As long as you don't threaten the life of a government official, you have nothing to fear. You can say whatever you want. THAT is not a dictatorship, and we are not moving towards one.
Bush will still be voted out in 2008, and a new president will still be inaugurated in January 2009. Period.

So the kind of political system we have is STILL a democracy.
But our country is a republic.

The USA is a fascist republic. ie a military corporatocracy. As Eisenhower warned of the might of the military industrial complex, this was imported from the Nazi regime after WW2 and has been running vast and ever increasing parts of your nations infrastructure (The Military, the administration, the physical infrastructure, vast amounts of the corporate world including media, pharmacueticals, entertainment, heavy industry, finance etc. ever since.

Let's not forget it was G W Bush's grandfather that funded the very fascism in germany that Don Rumsfeld was refering to in his speech to the veterans.

Fake elections that return a government committed to following the same elitist fascist agenda, whichever party wins, keep most of you compliant little people believeing you are free. Whilst the whole time a fascist military corporatocracy runs everything in the background. Within this corporatocracy there are many conflicting and competing forces battling to take ever increasing amounts of control, the neo-cons currently have the upper hand, but are squandering this through their inhumanity and incompetence and arrogance. However, it is still the same corporatocracy that controlls everything and will continue to do so whichever political party is in the Whitehouse.

The U.S.A are 'Terrorists'! When people who worked at one company for years are told to take a wage freeze, health benefits will have to be paid by employee (instead of employer). Then, these same employees are told near the holidays, your services are no longer needed. There is a 50-50 chance, these employees will find comparable employment elsewhere. If not, somebody better be married to pick up the slack. Otherwise, their will be evictions/home foreclosures,etc...
Then we have our lovely federal government approving eminent domain in a non-blighted area. In other words, if the price is right for high scale development-push out the lower-to middle income homeowners.
Again our lovely government are telling the elderly on a fixed income. If you can't afford the life your living (the essentials)-then you don't deserve live-die.
This is the financially wealthy WASP, better known as Communist.
-Always more to the story-

One that was elected by the people... If you don't like it vote for someone else next time... It's been known to work...

The school district that started the whole suit to teach creationism over evolution has dropped that suit now because they were voted out of power in the last election....

We have a corrupt elitist political system. It has always been that and will always be that way until enough people wake up and realize that and demand change. When your system of government no longer works for you the people, you should tear it down and rebuild it.Our founding fathers said it and it holds true. They must be rolling over in their graves at the direction this country is going in.Or maybe not.

We have a representative republic. Democracies are dangerous. They lead to mob rule and that is no good for anyone.
