"What I loved" by Siri Hustvedt. This book has violence, duplicity, murder and erotica in its pages, not necessarily the ingredients of the term "heartwarming" however, it is weighted down with marital and parental relationships, and its perhaps the most profound conversation about love, ever contained in one novel. This novel looks at the psyches of each character, into the intricacies of fragile sexual landscapes, as well as dealing with issues such as loss, communication breakdowns, truth, hysteria and memory. It also, is a book about how people overcome inward struggles of difference to live normal, (yet complicated, because life is complicated) lives.
If someone is looking for some light fluff however, I recommend Anne Tyler.
