I have noticed fuel filters do need to go in a certain way. There was an arrow stamped on the one I replaced not too long ago.

Larry M is wrong.
It is a cylinderical metal filter with two flare 3\16" flared Fem. ends.

It can be installed backwards. It will work if installed backwards, just not very well.

They are usualy located along the frame rail just below the drivers seat.

Filters are marked out, or flow with an arrow both, should go towards the engine

It will only go on one way. The filter has a male and female end on it and can't be installed wrong.
