I recently came across this word in a poem. Was unable to trace it in any dictionary. Does anyone has the meaning?

Well, not quite the muse of dance -- that would be Terpsichore -- but you can see that is where it comes from. From Wikipedia:

"In Greek mythology, Terpsichore ("delight of dancing") was one of the nine Muses, ruling over dance and the dramatic chorus. She is usually depicted sitting down, holding a lyre. She is sometimes said to be the mother of the Sirens by Achelous. Her name comes from the Greek words τερπέω ("delight") and χoρός ("dance")."

Therefore, breaking this down, 'sichore' would probably be 'dancing', with 'terp' being 'delight' [terpsi (either from terp-ti- or from terp-si-) "gladdens"].

Hope this answers your question!

Something to do with dance, I would think (as in choreograph). Terpsichore is the goddess of dance.
