As an Englishman interested in American Popular Music (Blues and Jazz) I was looking forward to visiting New Orleans a few years ago..
I was disappointed to find a city divided by race. Blacks and White were clearly divided - Different jobs, Housing etc.
I can't remember seeing a white and black person together.
White peoples aggressive approach when talking to black people was clearly evident
As I chatted to black people in shops and bars and on the street they were clearly surprised that someone would treat them as equal and often opening up to me and were most friendly.

Too many Blacks? - No -TOO Little kindness to people of a diff rent colour.

America supported New Orleans to the hilt as far as I could see...
...tho the American Govenment and it's other organisations let it fall by the wayside pathetically as there was no profit in it...

...dear Americans, please be aware that should your country befall a great disaster on a national scale, this is the likely outcome...

1, Big cities with lots of money will take care of themselves.
2, Hics with no money will be forced to take care of themselves.
3, Nobody in power will give a c-r-a-p about you if you have no money.

...are you prepared?

Be careful not to confuse America and the American government here. The American people supplied and continue to supply the majority of relief money and volunteer work in New Orleans.

The government, now...that's a different story.

The US is more bothered about proving a point on the other side of the world than it is about it's own backyard. Someone should invade the US now, that would teach them a thing or two.

Well, I don't know, but what I do know that a lot foriegn aid was rejected because the US government were too proud to admit they couldn't cope. I think that is quite sad.

Something you might want to ask your Republican (conservative) government and house of representatives. Just look at the reporting which said whites were 'finding food' and blacks were 'looting'.
