I think they sit by the computer at 07:00 a.m and leave it at 23:00 p.m., if not, how come do they spend such a lot of time ?
And are they paid by Yahoo?

My opinion and observation: Some have been on the site for a longer time period than others. Some do not really answer questions. Their answers are--"thanks for the 2 points". I'm thinking some are disabled or retired--some are "children". Then some are single young people with "no" life. For them, it is a cheap form of anonymous socializing. You also have married or otherwise with an addiction to the site. It is addicting, even when you have other things to do. Ha Ha I should know Smile. No insult intended to any of these.

They could be unemployed. They could be insomniacs. They could have a couple of windows opened on their computers, and switch back and forth while, say, waiting for the some other site to respond. They could just leave the machine up and stop by to answer a question while they get a coffee and take a break from, say, vacuuming or anything else they may be doing. I don't happen to be one of those top answerers, but I'm guessing, based on some of the reasons I've been on here.

They are not paid by Yahoo, although a couple of weeks ago a woman announced that she will now be a part of the Yahoo team after she started answering questions last January.

One other possibility, some people may do questions while they have their televisions on because television is sometimes not very good. It could be a kind of combo/time-wasting endeavor....

In all seriousness, I've found that trying to come up with a good answer to someone's question is a more interesting, more challenging, and more rewarding "idle activity" than, say, playing games or watching television.

Undoubtedly they are unemployed or stay at home moms and dads. Yahoo won't pay for what they get for free.

More than likely, either that or sharing an account, it would take ages to get all those points up
