Is iceberg lettuce the healthy ingredient in MacDonald's, by any chance?

Later:

Eat the lettuce and chuck the rest in the bin provided, and you'll always fit comfortably into your nice outfits for the rest of your long and healthy life.

As John McInroe might have said - you can not be serious? Although I suspect you are.

No, is the obvious answer. Lettuce is good for you - no calories. What's responsible for obestity is overeating, eating the wrong type/amount of foods basically, and lack of physical exercise.

That's not to suggest looking after your weight is easy - sounds fine in theory but in practice is a whole different ballgame. I know, I've struggled with my weight and lack of physical exercise all my life and am STILL trying to loose weight now in my 50s. I'm succeeding slowly but it's up and down and no easier now than ever.

Good question anyway.

This statment is partialy true, however you must of course also take into consideration that sweetcorn is now being sold in tins and air travel has replaced a lot of the cruise liners, which has a knock on effect on the lettuce being able to find a home in its natural enviroment ,which is as most postmen have realised, the side of a major 1900s liner.
Please dont judge this fantastic organism, it is also having difficulties with weight loss.

Well this is just a rumor, but I heard that iceberg lettuce is teaming um with...radishes...yes radishes, in an attempt to take over the garden from tomato and carrot. It will be interesting to see how that one turns out.

It is responsible for the rise in obesity of Hispanics as immigrant farm workers tend to adopt many of the US's bad habits..including poor diet. As far as globalization, I'd have the same answer as the laborers tend to send much of their money and ideas home.

I do know that lettuce turning brown is the worst way to get e-coli if you eat it. They had a few cases in pre packaged salads, of people catching it when they ate it. So be careful next time you see wilting lettuce in the supermarket reduced items.
