both attitudes have a place in life, you just have to know what is appropriate:
Cynicism in the car showroom, or when the JW's come calling
Hope in the hospital ward
Sincerity in the classroom
Teach your kids critical thinking skills, and they will make up their own minds what fits in where.
My score would be a 2 all draw. Society has made some inroads, but I've fought back strongly and have drawn even

I think a combination of both would be the most balanced outlook.
In society I think cynicism and sarcasm is winning 2-1 at the moment. In my own life cynicism & sarcasm is about 4-0 in front with only 25 minutes played!

I think that in the long run these things are the same. Depends on what kind of person you are.
But in the end they are used for the same purpose:..
Cynics see it as how it should be and that to them is a constant, this keeps them going. The same effect comes from being hopeful.
Sarcasm may seem as it is used to blow one off, but it will make the person handing it out think about the matter afterwords. The same goes for the sincere person except that such a person will have thought about it before showing their sincerity.
They are in effect like Yin and Yan

Well, I'll tell you what.
My dad, (RIP) was a-self declared cynic, overtly so with everyone around him, which included his family at the time. I am sure in his mind he would have declared for "realism" if he had been articulated enough.
Did he help my sister, yours truly, and my mother any ?.
Mmmmmmmmmmm...
"As a man thinks in his heart so is he", this much is written and I ABSOLUTELY and categorically can testify to the validity: behaviour necessarily follows belief.
BEWARE giving your children _ANYTHING LESS_ than joy, innocence, truth, discipline and plenty of affectionate attention.
Raising children is a responsibility we should pray a lot about,
and this here is a wicked age.
Do the right thing by God's counsel to your conscience.
They will bless you long after you're gone to your reward.
I am sixy-two, and owner of a memory that for better or for worse just don't quit.

Past experience, alas, has shown that cynics (which from another view point you could call realists) mostly get it right.
And where would we be without a few sarcastic people to let a bit of air out of some overblown egos?
Hope and sincerity on their own will only make you easy prey.

Cynicism versus Sincerity. Would not take any child of mine to a football match.

Do i have to answer so many questions. Goddd its sooo unfair. I am totally sarcastic and cynical like the vast majority of this society and i dont think you can 'teach' children to be either way. I think it comes to you depending of your specific circumstances and experiences.

it would be both
you haft to have a little bit of all of them to learn and teach the children to live with all the above
or else we couldn't make it in today's world.
