Is there an "ideal" blood pressure reading? No. Acceptable blood pressure falls within a range; it's not a particular pair of numbers. For most adults, a blood pressure reading that's less than 140/90 mm Hg means there's no cause for worry.
A reading of 140/90 or higher qualifies as high blood pressure.

An ideal blood pressure reading is 120/80. However, blood pressure varies throughout a lifetime. Children have much lower blood pressure than adults. As people grow older, their blood pressure rises. In general, readings are higher in the morning and lower while a person sleeps. Physical activity makes blood pressure go up, and rest causes it to go lower.

as a person grows order the blood pressure also increases until when it reaches a level at which it may start decreasing again. This is due to distensibility of the veins.

But, there are readings that are used as references when taking blood pressure, for example 120/80 millimitres of mercury is the optimum, <130/85mm Hg is normal, 130-139/58-89 mm Hg is high normal. Sometimes blood pressure readings may show low blood pressure when taken whilst it is normal to the particullar individual. What I mean is, what is an ideal for you is not an ideal to someone else. these readings are for those >18 years of age.

120/80. But 110/70 reduces the fear of hypertension by 90%. In these people the BP doesn't increase.

The American Heart Association has set the bar at 115/75 for adults. 120/80 is considered prehypertension, and 130/90 is now diagnosed as hypertension.
