what i mean is should we make a big thing of it u know like the holocost or is it best to leave it. my local museum is doing a exhibition and invited us to attend to give our views of subject so thats why i ask. i tend to think discussion and acknowledgement is a good thing, but alot of people tend to want to deny that slavery has any thing to do with how we live today. as a child i really felt for the jewish people but even as a black person i felt that slavery was not something to keep going on about. It wasnt until i saw Roots that i really started to think.

I think it's like anything else in history--learn from your mistakes, lest ye be condemned to repeat them. I do think it's an important thing to know about; I also think there are a lot of other important mistakes in history that should be considered as well.

This question implies that the USA is the only guilty party!

Slavery is the social and legal designation of specific persons as property, for the purpose of providing labor and services for the owner without the right of the slave to refuse, or gain compensation.

Do you know about these?

Yes I do feel that we should celebrate the freedom of our ancestors. That moment paved the way for our African-Americans today. Even though we are still struggling with the race issue we are stepping up in the world and I am proud of our black brothers and sisters.

I don't know if 'celebration' is the right word, but the practice of slavery was a horrific time in our history, and it should certainly be recognized. We should never forget what we overcame, because we learned from it.

We should all mourn on the day that slavery was abolished. Slavery was a good thing and should have never been abolished. After all, thats all blackes are good for... picking cotten and tending the fields.

Have you ever heard of Juneteenth? June 19th
Only recently in the last few years have I heard of it and seen events advertised to celebrate.

Anyways, its a celebration of the ending of slavery.

I think Its important to remember all important historical events honestly.

Of course we should. Countless people died as a result of slavery, thousands died to help end slavery and save the Union.

I think a celebration brings back the joy of that day just the way u have ur independent day in America and it reminds us that it is something we don't ever wanna do again.
