It's the color of the metal pewter.
The metal pewter is an alloy similar in looks to silver, a little more gray, and not as shiny. The modern pewter has additional metals added to it that make it more shiny and silvery, but it's still not as pure a color as actual silver.
Look at some old dinner wear and things to get an idea about what the metal looks like. The color is the same, even with it's clothing or something else not metal.
