I thought Katie Couric's first nite would have been....?

just a little more special,, with a little more fanfair,, I made my daughters stop homework and everything for it,, and poof it wasn't anything other than Good evening?

Was anyone else disappointed??

I meant to watch this, but I got side-tracked. I'm sorry to hear that she kinda got off on the wrong foot. She'll probably do better as times goes on. Oh, well, consequences, smoncequences, long as she's rich.

I was running late and only saw the last 10 minutes of the broadcast. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was a little put off by the deliberate way she would stare at the monitor when she led us into each report.
I don't mean into the camera, I mean that when they were about to show us footage of each report, she would lead into it and then take her eyes from the camera down and to the left and she did this EVERY SINGLE TIME --that I saw. It was just a really stiff move.
Also, this business about asking for suggestions about what she should say when she signs off every night --she's not doing a daytime interact-with-your-audience-to help-wake-them-up magazine anymore, she's reporting the evening news! To me that was always serious business. When I was young my dad watched David Brinkley, Dan Rather, Walter Cronkite (this was before CNN and 24 hour access to up-to-the-minute news reports) --and we had to be quiet because getting the news from around the world was important and I can only imagine the tirade he would have gone into had any of those reporters gone into a "slice of life" monologue on their broadcast!
I thought it was a very bad move!

Yes. I didn't think she was that great. Just because we both women doesn't mean I'm going to watch it if I think someone else is better. I want Bob Schaeffer back!
