The point of fashion models is to have people looking at the clothing. A smile distracts from that. And yes, they are just walking clothes hangers or animated mannequins. Sad, but true. The stage is for the designers, not the models. The girls have other opportunities to show off themselves and can smile then.

Also, if you think about it, trying to smile for several hours during a show would put a strain on the girls. Can you imagine trying to hold a smile for three hours when all you are doing is parading around and changing clothes?

Because the point is to look at the clothes, not the models. They are pretty much just walking manicans.

Because clothes hangers don't smile ! But serously, Its like some kind of image - like too good, too snobby for the rest of us.

because they are like actors...they make an expression thats according to their outfit...like if they wear flowery dress, they give out angelic smiles...but if their outfit is leathery, they conjure up b*tchy expressions
