The only real difference is that Intel is a USA chip manufacturer, while AMD is a British manufacturer of microchips. They each have their own sockets and slots which are not compatible with each other.

Well Amd is meant for gamers. Intel is designed for Business use.
I c that amd is faster than intel in alot of benchmarks.
Amd athlon 64 5000 socket 939 is fast than the Intel dual core.
Intels dual core is piece of crap.

Intel has better marketing, but its chips arent better. AMDs chips are much faster, esp for gaming.
For example, for Intel Pentium 4 came out, it wasnt much faster than the Celeron at the time, so they had to reduce the bus bandwidth to make it "look" faster.
