Any of the Harry Potters, any Mary Stewart (she has mystery and fiction and Arthurian Legend), Robin Cook, Denise Giardina - Saint and Villans, Chicken Soup for the Soul (there are a lot to choose from and I like short stories because I can read one or more depending on how much time I have). The Cat Who... Books are fun to read and there is a cookbook out that is fun to read and has great recipes in it. Any of the books of the Pendragon cycle by Stephen Lawhead (I would recommend starting at the beginning though it can get confusing skipping around). Any books on King Arthur or the Arthurian Legend.

Read Paul Auster a great novellist. I like the Book of Illusions and Leviathan. Good to start you off and get you hooked. For a bit of a philosophical read you must buy 'Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance' by Robert M Pirsig.

I really enjoyed THE LIFE OF PI. It's an adventure story, not something I would normally go for but I was pleasantly surprised. Sorry I'm awful at remembering authors.

SOPHIE'S WORLD is a good choice if you're in a philosophical mood. Here I CAN remember the author - Jostein Gaardner.

I really enjoyed "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruis Zafon, it's a mystery set in Madrid.

I also enjoyed "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire

A good biography is "Behind Enemy Lines" by Marthe Cohn, she was a French/Jewish spy during WWII and is alive today (86 years old) living in California. She still gives speeches about her life during the war. Very interesting woman!

I don't know your age but if you're young "Wicked" may not be for you. Hope this helps!
