i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

Yes, Irwin was a good person, and yes, he loved promoting an appreciation of wild animals. But I think what people are reacting to is the irony that the world is so surprised and shocked by his death. When you put yourself at such extreme risk on a daily basis, an untimely death is certainly not a surprise.

I agree people should at least have respect for the man in death. Everyone deserves that. He knew that he took risks he stated that fact more than once and still went on to do what he loved. Stingrays are not know to kill people in fact tourist go there to swim with them. Steve was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. What a brave man to face fear like that on a daily basis and rise above it to do what he thought was best for the Animals that he loved. I think the jokers are just envious that they will never come close to being as cool and living there dreams as Steve was. His family is in my thoughts and he will be missed. And to the jokers did you Mom not raise you with respect how would you like it if people were dropping jokes about your deceased loved one or saying they deserve it. No one deserves having there life took so soon like that think of his family people.

I agree with you.
It is a great loss, and he does not deserve the jokes, and his family that is left does not deserve to be made to suffer any more than they are.
what really gets me is todays youth.
I don't understand how they can be so insensitive, show no remorse or compassion for one's life,it truly is sad. Steve Irwin was a Great Humanitarian and he will be missed by so many people around the world that knows the Value of one's Life.

Some people are "detatched" and dont care one way or another about an individuals life...

Its a shame, with the video games, (death and destruction all involved), they become innured to it, so that life is not valued much.

I encountered this problem with my Son. I was watching movies involving the Twin Towers in New York City and it broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes, thinking of all those people who died for nothing, and seeing a beautiful building destroyed... It was heart breaking while the event was happening, and I couldnt go see the movie because I am too sympathetic to death and destruction, and pain and suffering, that it would be devestating to me.

(I guess you can tell, I dont play any video games, eh?).

Well, my Son says he can watch it, and it doesnt "bother him"! I told him that he should lay off the video games and get to become human again...

I wish you well..

Jesse

I was sick of this topic 24 hours ago! Will you people ever get a life and some real perspective or what? Sure he was a nice guy and he died doing what he loved and it's all good. In truth people should not mourn a persons death. They should celebrate a persons life. Who cares if some people make fun. If you go around in life caring about every little thing people say, you will become a flippin nut ball. End of story!

Because people don't care. Nobody cares. Maybe Steves family. We can say Rest In Peace and all this other stuff. We will miss you. Yeah but think deep down in your heart. Has it affected you as much as you put on?

No. Not really. Yeah a shock that someone you used to see all the time has died, but no emotional stress at all.

Yes sorry he died, but thats where it ends.

As for making fun, thats just cold. People are cold. Life is cold. Thats where that ends too.

Its tragic when someone dies when so young no matter who they are, but to sit there and make fun of someone who was dedicated in his profession is even more tragic. What about his family, friends and coworkers who have to deal with his loss now. What about his children & wife? Shame on all of those who can belittle this guy after all he has done for our children as well as us adults on learning more about animals, out of water or in. These people have no compassion or empathy what they may be going through right now, and are downright jealous of the guy who has done so much in his short life. For shame, for shame, FOR SHAME!!
