With all the wars caused by religion that are happening at the moment should we abolish religion and make it illegal?

I've had no use for it.

I hate religion. I cannot believe people actually believe in it. If the religious people spent more time caring about themselves and the other humans around them instead of God then surely it would all make more sense.

I'm not a closed minded person and I am happy to listen to why religious people have the faith in God that they do but noone has every been able to give me any more than a pittying look as if to say " poor unsaved soul" or tell me it's just a matter of believing.

Religion in my eyes is a way of maintaining control. Whilst ever there is control to be won there is always going to be a power struggle and humans are not capable of working things out in a peacful way, even the religious ones. If people want to gain the power and enforce their beliefs on others badly enough they will go to any extreme to make this happen with the backing of their unproven God behind them.

I just don't understand it but when I've finished writing this question I'm sure I'll see lots of answers telling you to find god and love god etc.

Faith is fine. Hope is necessary. Love and trust in mankind and the future, crucial but religion. What? As a way of life or code it just doesn't seem to cut it as even though only God will judge alledgedly, the religious judge the none or other religious and it provides continued struggle and wars.

I would ban religion. Simple as that.

Very few wars are actually about Religion. People just use it as an excuse to fight.

Islam disapproves of the freedom that the western way of life offers, but very few Muslims would consider this disapproval as a reason to kill. The Qur'an speaks of love, harmony and tolerance.

The Christian crusades were born out of a belief that heretics had no right to live - yet the same book from which this belief was extracted spoke of love and acceptance.

If religion didn't exist or was banned then people would still fight and kill each other - just under a different pretext.

Religion - a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature,
and purpose of the universe.

It seems to me this fits just about all human activities .

Why do we need religion anyway? It only seems to set us
one against another!

Do we embrace the notion of religion because we are to
frighten to acknowledge the possibility this is all there
is?

All contemporary religious dogma has failed humanity!

All contemporary religious dogma divides the human family!

All contemporary religious dogma causes too many tears!

The whole of humanity longs for something that will bring
us all together as brothers and sisters. Something that
will allow us to embrace our unity.

Nothing I see on Earth today makes this possible!!!

Bless all souls. Peace and Prosperity to everyone!

Have fun but be safe.

Entheogenic - Mindless

I have seen the light of a 1000 stars,
but none so bright as the light within!

No, no, no that would cause far too many problems, abolish religion, oh my, no. Can you imagine the wars that would ensue? I'm an atheist by the way but I think this is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

T Time - Level 5 - seems you have no use for a life either....jk

Religion has lots of use. For one its real, God is real; the problem is that well, you haven't realized it, so its not real to you - currently that is.

War is war, its not religion so much as greed and power that are causing the wars. The struggle for righteousness is plauged with false ego and incorrect direction i.e. christian fundementalists, muslim fundementalist; however a bad practitioner doesnt mean a bad practice; it just means a bad practitioner

its obvious you are young...you will understand more about the nature of nature later in life...just dont be bitter and things ideas will open up

Think of something you really beleive in say for example, human rights for children. Now think of how you would feel if that was made illegal. People have different beliefs, opinions and views, which are bound to lead to conflict. It's been going on for over 2000 years. Nothing can be done. Just let it take it's course

Religion itself does not suck, PEOPLE suck. People corrupt something that is good and meant for good, and they turn it into a vehicle for persecution, murder and war. I know of NO major religious doctrine (Christian, Buddhist, Islamic, etc.) that condones murder, terrorism, kidnapping, nor politically motivated agendas in any form.
