Of course. Sometimes it takes a long time to get over someone. It took me almost three years to get over my ex-husband even though he did me wrong in some of the worst ways. As you know the brain and heart are rarely on the same page. You know you don't want them back for whatever reason, but you can't help but miss and love them. Give yourself time and don't rush it. It'll come in time.

After 5 years I still miss my ex. But we grew up together. Got married when we both were 18 & were married almost 30 years. Most of those years we fought like cats & dogs. It took the whole 1st year for me to stop hating him. And to stop dreaming we were still fighting. Now it seems the longer we're divorced the more I remember the good times. Sorry to say it, but I miss him more now than ever. The up side is, we get along better now.

Yes it is. The experts that study this issue say it takes one year for every 4 years you were together to heal from a relationship. It takes time and I'm sure you would agree that you are doing better now than you were 9 months ago. It's okay to feel the pain...allow yourself to heal before you get into a new relationship..you owe it to yourself and your next partner to be whole...and not just what's available!

Good Luck!

Of course. All our experiences in the past are etched in our memory. Some recall will arise when we do something now that reminds us of incidents in the past.
What is more important for you is whether you have moved on with your life. If you have, then at times when your memory of the past with someone returns, it will not bother you.
Look on the positive side of your present relationship than on the past. The past is over. What's important is the present. Live your present, not the past, which matters no more!
