DONT DO IT! I'm trying to sort out our Bt Broadband at the moment and we've had nothing but problems

They promised it would be connected a few weeks ago, and we're still chasing them up everyday with no joy.

They even broke our telephone line (the line was dead) and tried to charge us for the honour of fixing it - yet left daft messages on the 1571 telling us as we're not answering their calls, they assume the broadband was fixed (We werent getting ANY calls from anybody!!)

I was shouting as some floor manager last night actually, apparently we're getting a date for a Broadband engineer tonight....this is after they wasted the time of another engineer who we didnt need when the call centre staff weren't listening to the problem.

The call centre is a foreign one, and they're constantly passing the buck and dont listen to a damn word you say.

oh yes, and they keep cutting you off when your on hold with them trying to sort out a problem

Ok - Rant over! That question hit a raw nerve!! LOL!

So in effect, try and find another internet service provider - thats what I wish I could do (And will be if they havent sorted it by tonight...)

i would strongly suggest you get another supplier to install your phone and internet possibly telewest because i have just got rid of bt after being a customer for fifteen years.
i have had terrible problems with them trying to speak with someone is a minefield and their costs are well over the top, for the past two years i have been paying £40 per month just for internet and phone yet i only use the phone rarely, when i queried this i was told the bulk of the £40 covered service charges but could not tell me what these charges were for, i am now paying £30 pcm for telephone/internet and tv, bt seem to be heading for just the companies and rich members of our society and you should avoid them like the plague

I can't speak for alternate companies but I've had a positive experience with BT. I have my phone and internet service with them. The internet connection has never gone down and it was easy to install the wireless router.

I would have thought it was Talk Talk for package value - free broadband for life and free UK local/national calls plus free calls to 28 worldwide countries or something. However, their customer service is rotten. I've only managed to speak to someone twice in all the times I've called and the wait to be connected to broadband is horrendous, well over a month.

I found Orange to be the best. Wireless internet is free if you've got an Orange contract mobile and I got a free wireless modem.

be always aware of the contention ratio on your dsl connection. for home users, it is almost always 50:1 but if somebody is offering free service, then their ratio is more likely to be closer to 50:1 then a paid service!
