Depending on your racial background, you would have very different answers. Most of the white people I know say they are against racism and they are not racists yet most of the ethnic minority people have experiences of racism, in one form or another. Sometimes such experiences are so subtle you really can't prove whether they are racially motivated or not but that is how people perceive subjectively.

I am white but I am jewish and people I know well are totally shocked if they find out. If people see yuo looking jewish like wearing a kippah or star of david you can get real abuse. It just goes to show people are totally judging you on your skin colour- people assume I'm white and treat me normally until they know I'm jewish. I hide me star of david, only wear kippah indoors, and generally don't advertise it. I have been spat at, pushed over, kicked, had rubbish and needles thrown at me, pavement outside my house graffiti with 'Juden Raus' (Jews Out!) and Nazi salutes all the time. I have been told I shouldn't be allowed to vote and I should go back to Israel (a country I have never been to and have no allegiance too- I think they're all crazy) This is all from white people. But it surprises people that I have never, ever had problems from muslims.

At the risk of sounding racist I personally think Britians of ethnic minority have this blame culture problem and love playing the race card. The other day I saw a traffic warden give a woman a ticket for parking on a yellow line (something that is against the law for people of all races everywhere in the world) And she started verbally abusing him, shouting that he's doing it because she's black, not because of the yellow line.
I grew up in South Africa, a country that was plagued by Apartheid, and I know very few black, Indian or coloured (mix race) South Africans who get as offended as quicly as the folks in Britian.
I could joke and chat with my Zulu friends, and they never got offended.
I personally think that the folks this side doesnt know true racial struggle and are just over sensitive.

A lot of people actually hate to believe racism exists in UK but heres a fact IT ACTUALLY DOES. As a young black woman myself i've been on the receiving end of it many times as have alot of my family members and friends.
So just because u have not personally faced it it doesnt mean you can now be ignorant and fefuse to accept or believe it exists.

So many things happen in this world today but you can not just turn a blind eye and say it doesnt exist just because it hasnt happened to you.

It is sad that in this day and age we cant all look past things like skin colour, religion, cultural differences etc. and just work together and be united for the better good of this world because at the end of the day we may not all look the same or talk the same but we are all all the same - HUMAN BEINGS.

I just hope that someday racism can be put behind us.

Everyone is racist but I don't mean extreme racism such as lynching, firebombing etc. It is much more subtle eg thinking all Asians smell of curry, Black people are lazy criminals, crossing the street when you see a group of black boys, being weary of the Asians on the train, racial profiling at airports etc. White people are victims as well eg Police force only want to recruit ethnic minorities.

A lot of the questions on this site at the moment go on about Muslims and hatred for the race. There hasn't been an incident that I'm aware of (other than the troops) where people have taken the law into their own hands and attacked temples or local Muslim communities. I think the country is holding it's head high and cannot be accused of racism.

Of course it does and the whole world. No doubt about about it. Just reading some of the Q&A's on here is proof. People forget we are one big human race first. There are stupid people in all walks of life. I've had racist insults thrown at me a few times by white people but I then don't go around accusing all whites as being the same. That is when the problems arrise between races.

As a white man, I have experienced racism at the hands of blacks, Asians and to a more subtle degree Chinese people many many times.

So I can only imagine that these people too experience racism in others.

All peoples have racists amongst them. It most certainly isn't a "whites only" thing.

Yes, unfortunately is does. And it has nothing to do if you white or black or red or green. I am german and I 've been on the recieving end of racism here in UK and in Gemany. There will always be people of different religion, skincolour or way of thinking or living and some people can't handle that. It is the way it is handled what make the difference.

Ha Ha Ha! You're having a laugh...... You better believe there is Racism in the UK. It's rife, only people don't want to believe it. They should wake up and smell the roses, as they say!?
NOW, all of a sudden we're against muslims, all of them because you don't know which one is going to do the BAD deed next.

Go and find out for yourself. If you're white and live in the UK, spend some time in Bradford, Tottenham, Brixton or Hackney

If you're non-white, then spend some time in a wealthy white suburb or country village.

You'll find racism everywhere, from all races and to all races; not just whites prejudiced agains non-whites, that's just too naive.
