We have been developing now as different tribes for the past 2000 years or more. The only way for the human race to move foward sustainably, and without killing each other over religon, land, money, oil etc, and without polluting the planet we otherwise would not be alive on is to put aside our different idealologies and live as one human race.
Think about the basic principles, the constitution, and the structure.
So, can it happen? What are the obstacles? I plan to start a wiki with the best answer(s), to continue development.
Have fun with this one ,then go answer more questions.

Some good answers so far, most quite pessimistic about the ability of humans beings to live together. A word to the wise, all we have to do is want it , innit!
Calisto, i do think its the way foward. whats the other option?
And i do agree the @human condition@ is one of the main reasons why life on this planet may not work out for us.

I could be wrong, but doesn't it state that the third Anti-Christ would be the person that creates a one world government?
I say, let's get this ball rolling.
PS. In my view, we need to get rid of religion. It's the only way we can all come together in any form.

Unfortunately there is something called the "Human Condition" which promotes self preservation, greed and selfishness. Animals have also been evolving for the past 2000 years and they've not progressed much either. The basic principle is good but the major problem is overcoming what has evolved to be human nature. The world, as we know it, is so full of inequality and everyone cares as long as it doesn't affect their standard of living. We in the West can give to charity (more often than not to salve our conscience) but would be unwilling to give much more. It would take a long, long time but if the question is a serious one here goes.
1. First of all we have to appreciate it's not something that will be achieved in our lifetime it's only a goal (or ideal) to work towards.
2. We then have to support the ideals of the United Nations.
3. Through a strong United Nations we have to impose peace, rather than peacekeeping. Where the world can see wrong is being done the world should be united and prevent it (as in Darfur at the moment)
4. This is one many will not like but; we have to keep idealogical politics and religion out of humanity.
5. Again one some may not like; In an overpopulated world we must take responsibility for birthcontrol and this should be everyones burden. In many developing countries children are the only means of providing a future for the parents. That course hasn't worked, they are born into poverty and die in poverty.
6. I'll end now with the fact that what matters to us is our humanity, our children, our grandchildren, our parents, if we don't want a better world, a better society for them then what is the point. But in saying that one must remember others have exactly the same concerns.

You have fallen for the Hegelian logic of the totalitarians who are orchestrating a single world government.
Don't you realize that most of the wars, economic strife, and even terrorism are orchestrated and financed by a very small percentage of the super wealthy in global finance and industry? There is one single private organization in the US who has staffed at least 80% of every White House Administration (Sec. Defense, Sec. Treasury, Sec. of State, etc.) for the last 50 years - including Presidents.
They are the worlds wealthiest financiers, the largest arms dealers, they've purchased virtually all large scale US media for decades, they started the UN, The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and many other corrupt, socialist, nation busting organizations.
Hegelian logic dictates that a set of circumstances is purposefully orchestrated, bringing people to a pre-determined conclusion. In the case of the totalitarian globalists, their goal is to convince the world that only a single world system of governemnt will bring peace to the earth. Those who fall for their lies will have THEM placed in leadership positions.
Here's one example of their plan for total control. The UN Charter on Human Rights signed by all member nations reads like a great document to gauruntee human freedom. Free speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, property ownership, etc. But if you read the whole thing, the second to last statement declares that all of the above "rights" are granted so long as they agree with the goals and policies of the UN. In other words, you may only say what the UN dictates is acceptable, you may only live where they say is OK, you may only gather when they allow it, etc.
It's totalitarianism designed for an opressive and dictatorial single world government. Is that what you prefer?
Don't buy into the lies. We're being set up by a ruthless power monopoly who has already usurped and/or toppled world governments. The US government was one of the first to fall after they controlled our media.

Look at the UN charta. Perfect, don't you agree?
But look at the propaganda that's going on in the US about them.
And look at the way the Security Council is dominated by powers who have only discredited the whole idea over the years.
I'd be very pessimistic that they'll come up with a decent reform.
That would massively infringe US interests, so it's not going to happen with them still a member, and without them it'd be quite useless, don't you think?

It is impossible to have a one world government. No matter how many governments claim they separate the church from the state it is always rooted deep within their government. There are too many religions in this world and too many people are willing to go to war for their religions. This is the problem with the world. Religion does not give anyone the right to cause. We do not have the right to create war. No religion is based on the principals of war, it is only man's evil intentions that cause them to believe that jihad exists. There is no Holy War, nothing is holy about war. Until people can face this ultimate truth, no one world government could exist. It is also true that the third anti-Christ will propose a one world government. He will use peace as a way to entice people then destroy all that choose not to follow his evil ways.

I'm going to niggle over a detail here. The people of Earth have been developing as seperate tribes for millions of years.
I doubt that all the peoples of Earth could ever be organized under a single governing body, even a coalition. Such an administration would be to unweildy and probably be ineffective.

Human governments can negotiate "classes" of peace, yet there will be no lasting peace until the Lord Jesus returns. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a new child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government would be upon His shoulder. And His call would be referred to as outstanding, Counselor, amazing God, eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the upward thrust of His government and peace there will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to reserve it and set up it with judgment and justice From that element forward, even perpetually. the keenness of the Lord of hosts will carry out this. James 4:a million the place do wars and fights come from between you? Do they no longer come out of your desires for excitement that conflict on your individuals?

My friend, your idea is not new. Back in the 60s when I was MUCH YOUNGER. I read Marx and other socialist literature.
God-damn, it sure sounded greaaaaaaaaaat!. But it only took me a few years to find the fly-in-the-ointment. It was US all the time.
Have you heard that saying: " a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link?" That means to me that once you take into account human-nature no matter how beautiful or noble the dream it stays just that: A Dream! (unless, of course, you are willing to liquidate all those that don't fit the pattern of your peace-loving world)

You propose good old Socialist policies, lets all be the same, lets all dumb down to the lowest level. If you achieved it, people would eventually create new sub-groupings, because individuals can't identify with being one amongst 5 billion. To achieve worldwide homogeneity you would need an oppressive world state police, a little like the Soviet Union used to have, to stop people subdividing. Oppressive state control would replace religion.

The easiest way to bring everyone together on something like this is to find life on another planet. Then its us or them.
Capitalism, even though it creates the most overall goods is by far the worst possible system for people! Therefore capitalism and fascism would both have to go away! (capitalism and fascism are very closely related- those who have the money have the power in both)
