I agree with you that pity is one of the worst reasons for going into a relationship, another one is fear of been alone, some people go into a relationship just so they have someone and think its better than been alone, its very selfish and shallow and only causes heartache to both people in the end up.

Pity is the worst because you find yourself creating reasons why you should get out. You miss the face the value of the person and your read it like a wounded dog who needs bandages. It may be true but social graces require us to deny such truths.

You're right, pity is one of them but don't forget money, that's another one. last but not least ... People who simply refuse to live by themslves, feel a relationship will give them security, such as young girls, dying to leave home who move in with boys/men they barely know because they don't know/want to do it alone. Then you also have people who are simply addicted to relationships, you know they fall in love quickly then out of love within a few months. They simply have to be part of a couple at all times, even though it's with a different person most times!

There are ill advised reasons to enter a relationship and most have been covered. It would be easier to give good reasons to enter into a relationship ie you are both single, physically attracted to each other and interested in each other in general. Without some of these you will be doomed or unhappy in the long run. I know.

I'm not sure the reason itself matters the most. It could be more important how you act on them. Ann Nicole Smith went to a relationship purely for money. The 90 something oil king knew about it and - that's their conscious choice.
Someone else only wanted to be loved and cared for and made the other person weep with jealousy and worry just to make sure he was getting it.

I have to agree with you because I think going into a relationship because you pity someone is bad and would have dire consequences to those involved!!

The worst reason to go into a relationship would have to be for money. There are so many people out there that are willing to pretend love just to get their hands on someone's money. To me, that's pathetic.
