We subconsciously look for mates who mirror image our own features. As it's highly likely that we have features inherited from both our parents, then it's also highly likely that our husband could resemble our father.

I don't know about features, but I certainly think that characteristics play a part. My husband and father both love music, reading, good books, good films and art; both have a wide-ranging and cracking good sense of humour, and both like good food.

The hilarious thing is my father's birthday is 7 March, my husband's is 8 March. Go figure.

God forbid, I am sorry but I detest my father and have done since I was a very young child, he was cruel and manipulative, basically a psychopath, my husband is so totally different to him, he is tall, dark, handsome, beautiful, warm, loving, kind, gentle and always there for me, so very different to the father I have and my husband has absolutely no feature or aspect in common with my father.

Not features but personality traits. If you have a dad who treats you like a princess, then you will look for that in a guy. If you have a dad who is abusive, you will (unfortunately) subconsciusly look for that in a guy too.

I love my dad cause hes my dad but i dont think i could cope if my husband was like him. I know that sounds horrible cause he can be the nicest person but then the most horrible and i could not have a partner like that.

Not at all.
My dad is 6'3", about 20 stone, Scottish and a huge drinker.
My hubby is 5'8", 12 stone, Londoner and drinks rarely.

According to old freud, a girl would because she looks up to her father and thinks, if I can't marry him, i might as well marry someone who looks like him. Whether or not you are destined to marry someone who resembles and/or acts like your father, it all comes down to coincidences and fate, actually.

So don't worry if you DO marry someone who looks and acts like your old father. It's not like you really marries him, you're marrying someone else. But having a familiar face really helps. What's more, if he is good and loyal to you, that's a bonus in itself.
