Normally, during the first three months the only difference you'll have is maybe feeling kind of bloated or a little puffy around the middle, the way you may when a period is about to start. The fetus is still small, and the uterus hasn't started to lift up out of the pelvic cavity yet.
At four months you may start to really notice that clothes with waists are uncomfortable. Usually, though, a person can get away with wearing most of the same clothes - only maybe doing something like wearing shirts out rather than tucked in.
If you don't get really big you probably can just keep wearing all your own underthings, pantyhose, coats, jackets, sweatshirts, and even any pull-over tops or sweaters that are roomy. You may be able to get away with elastic waist skirts or pants for quite a while before graduating to real maternity skirts or pants. Some people just wear their own pants, jeans or skirts and don't fasten the top. (If you need something to keep them up you can rig something up with a ribbon or elastic.)
Some people may wear maternity things as early as four and a half or five months. Some don't until six or seven months along.
It all just depends on the person, the pregnancy, and even whether the person's regular clothes are all skin tight or a little more on the loose side.

Everyone is different. I needed bigger bras and tops straight away and bigger pants at 4 months.
If you live in the UK, you can pick up great maternity wear cheap at H & M, Peacocks and Dorethy Perkins. Some of the tops from H & M are great, they can still be worn even if your not pregnant so you're not wasting your money. Also Primark is great I bought jogging bottoms in bigger sizes for £4 a pair, they were great for lazing round the house or doing my cleaning.
The bad thing is you still need bigger clothes after the birth, my baby is 3 months old and I still have to wear my maternity Jeans. :-(

It's different with each person. On average probably about 4 months in. Don't worry about getting bigger too soon. As long as your eating is healthy and you are getting moderate exercise, you can enjoy your tummy growing.
Wear what is comfortable for you. There are a lot of nice maternity clothes out there - you don't need to look like a sack.
Congratulations on your little one on the way!

The average is about four to five months.
Some people are more private and don't like showing off the belly until they have no choice, usually you can "disguise" the belly until the fifth month.
Some people are excited and bursting to tell the world they're pregnant. I have friends that started wearing maternity before they were showing LOL.
You're the queen that has to shlep this baby around for nine months, do what makes you feel comfortable.

Don't worry about this, worry about taking care of yourself and your baby. Trust me, you will know when it is time to go out and get maternity clothes. The only thing I would suggest is that buy maternity right off the bat instead of going into a bigger size, you will waste time and money that way. You will only grow out of the bigger sizes but maternity they are made to grow with you.
Best of luck.

Everyone is different but when you feel your normal clothes are getting too small you can try maternity clothes. I started wearing maternity clothes at 6 months for work

I wore a splash of the two. whilst i became interior the 'in between' point (you realize, the place human beings might think of your pregnant yet uncertain), I wore larger sizes. i presumed maternity clothing have been just about a waste of money, so i could purchase some issues that have been on sale and that i presumed have been lovable. as quickly as I have been given larger, I wore maternity pants or stretchy pants and a mixture of maternity and larger sized tops. i did not sense the might desire to purchase rather some maternity clothing, seeing as you basically placed on them for a quick time. probably approximately 0.5 the clothing I did placed on (for the 1st being pregnant) i became able to placed on after being pregnant to boot.

I wore regular shirts, just some in a larger size at first, but they get annoying because they stop fitting comfortably around your belly. I got a few comfy, normal looking maternity tops (t-shirts and one long-sleeve) when regular shirts started annoying me. For jeans, I stayed in what I always wore, because they make them low-cut and somewhat stretchy nowadays, so they fit okay the whole time. Except for towards the end, when the baby drops, and then pj pants or jogging pants are more comfortable.

I've just started wearing all my maternity clothes last week. I'm 4.5 months. I just couldn't squeeze into my office clothes anymore. People are starting to notice now.
I tried the larger sizes route...didn't work. It was just sloppy looking and you could tell it wasn't going to get me through my pregnancy. I was thinking that it would be cheaper, but is it really when you have to replace with larger sizes? Besides, the rest of me isn't expanding anymore, just my bump.

I say when you can't button up your jeans. I started at 3 months because I blew right up. Now I am 5 months and it feels like I didint get any bigger since then.
