It's a generalization. WWII had a Dem in power. Korea had both a Dem and Rep in office. Vietnam started with a Dem and ended with a Rep. The Gulf wars started with Reps. The Republicans have money and favor the interests of the rich. Their policies and influence started WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf wars. Who was in office doesn't make much difference. It's whose pulling the strings that count. The rich pull the strings. Just stay smart and let some other sap join up.

Democrats want peace at any cost. They will give away the country instead of protecting the country. The way they want peace is to give away pieces of ourselves and just talk, talk, talk. And when that does not work we elect Republicans to take care of business. I don't know where you got recession from but do you remember interest rates for homes at 16 - 20 %? I remember them and you know who was President at this time, Jimmy Carter. Lots of people out of work about 10 -20 % of the work force. Prices going up at an alarming rate. Who was there telling us to conserve energy by wearing sweaters in the house, Jimmy Carter. Bill Clinton had the tech bubble work in his favor but it had burst and we were in a recession before he left office. So much for democratic prosperity. Please remember the democrats also like to raise taxes of the so-called rich. They raised my taxes and I'm not rich by any means. Did you also know that the top 10% of wage earners pay 50% of the total taxes collected and the top 50% of wage earners pay 95% of the total taxes. That means the bottom 50% of wage earners only pay 5% of the total taxes. So when tax cuts seem to favor the wealthy it is just that they are already paying so much more than the rest of us. I am in the top 50% of wage earners and last year I pain almost $19,000.00 in Federal taxes alone. How much did you pay?

No it is not true. And I am a democrat. We should remember that Dems and Reps want to make America better. We just have different ways of going about it. Well, that is what I want to believe anyway. But no there are periods of time when Reps are in charge and there has been peace and prosperity. Eisenhower for example.

Not from what I've observed.
Democrats tend to keep the focus local, rather than global, and don't use as many scare tactics. But both Democrats and Republicans are generally bad for the economy, and both spend way way way too much money.

Depends on who and the quality of the person in power. Exept this war and that war, I think Bush could have done very well with the economy, which means more prosperity for the hard working class in America.

,Basically you're wrong. In any case, wars and recessions are brought about by factors beyond the control of one man, one party, one country. Even the war in Iraq (whether you support it or not) did not develop in a vacuum

Carter was a democrat and there wasn't much prosperity.
How ever I think the republicans need to get the message that the working man in the US is tired of the economic shaft they have been getting....
Personally I think my life is better under a democratic government.
