Anno Domini (Latin: "In the Year of the Lord"), abbreviated as AD, defines an epoch based on the traditionally-reckoned year of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Similarly, Before Christ (from the Ancient Greek "Christos" or "Anointed One", referring to Jesus), abbreviated as BC, is used in the English language to denote years before the start of this epoch. Some non-Christians use the abbreviations AD and BC without intending to acknowledge the Christian connotation. Some people prefer the alternatives 'CE' and 'BCE', arguing that they are more neutral terms

Yes, B.C is Before Christ.
That, together with A.D. can easily be found in any historical timeline.
B.C is actually used to indicate the number of years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
A.D. is used to indicate the number of years after the birth of Jesus Christ.

A.D. is anno domini for "in the year of our Lord"... not after death, and B.C. stands for "before Christ."

Before Christ. You often see B.C.E. meaning Before the Christian Era, these days. C.E. means '[of the] Christian Era.
You are 100% correct with AD! It means 'in the year of [Our] Lord' NOT 'after death'! Note that there is strictly no 0 BC or 0 AD and both of them count to and from the supposed year of the birth of Jesus. Current thinking is that he was actually born about 5 AD.

Before Christ.
I understand A.D. starts at Christ's death, meaning that there is a 33 year difference between when Jesus was born and when A.D. started.
