I think it's the most beautiful country in the world. The people are warm and friendly. The culture is so magnetic and vibrant. The cities are alive with passion. It's hard not to want to be a part of it. The mountains and beaches play hosts to clear waters , warm sands and beautiful fauna and flora. It makes one want to praise God and thank Him for placing his hand on the country and blessing it with beauty.
I do believe it is a garden of opportunity. We need to nourish and water the potential. And as with gardens, there are some weeds that needs to be taken out by the roots. South Africa's weeds being crime and AIDS at this point. But I do believe that the people of the Rainbow Nation can do wonders. Just look at the struggles they've already endured. How they rose above it all and claimed their freedom!
I love this country so much it hurts when I speak of it, because I'm not there to be a part of it. I live in Korea and only go home once a year. But the one month I do get to go home refreshes me in such a way that the other 11 months fly by so quickly.

Got a South African who works with me and he says he misses what it used to be like but it has gone down the tubes since the blacks took over. They murder and rape people in unbelievable numbers and he had to leave for the safety of his children. He also tells some funny stories about their Health Minister who prescribes vegetables and fruit as a cure for AIDS and they believe him. It is supposed to be a democracy but actually it is Communist. Mandela admits to being a communist and he was trained in Russia.Their President and other members of the Government are communists. He says they are also racists and are getting revenge on whites for apartheid and farmers are being murdered and their land stolen. He keeps showing me this site www.crimexposouthafrica.org and the stories and pictures are horrific. Dont think I would ever go there because it is too dangerous and having racial wars.

I live in South Africa and I think its incredible! It's diverse, beautiful, vibrant and friendly. Yes, we have our problems, but there's hope. I really think 2010 will show the world that SA is not the country they see on TV. I'm not an ANC supporter either... As long as the economy is growing at its current rate, I'll be hopeful that SA will emerge as one of the best countries in the world ;)

Beautiful country, but the current government is running it into the ground and scaring away foreign investment essential for prosperity. Lawlessness abounds and whites fear for their safety. My South African neighbors, who were residents for over 50 years, came to America rather than stay in their homeland.
I would not want to visit.
