There were penny loafers and saddle shoes. Saddle shoes were white with a thick black stripe of leather across the middle. They tied with laces and had a tongue. Penny loafers were slip-ons and a place to put a shiny penny on the top (most kids used dimes and nickels, made them look richer lol). There were no shoes with tongue flags.... Both of these shoes were worn by guy and girls both.
