Too crowded. Very busy, and at times quite unpleasant with it. On the other hand, the infrastructure is good so leisure activities are easily available. Wages are supposed to be higher, although I don't see much evidence for that, the cost of living is slightly higher than the national average today.

The South of England is a very big area it would be impossible to generalise about it, there are some parts of large cities and towns where you would not want to live but there are some areas which are smart and friendly the same as any city or town up north i would guess.
The real joy of the south in my opinion is the rural areas very expensive to buy property but some of the best countryside you will ever see, personally i would rather live in a tent in east sussex than a mansion anywhere else.
Just my opinion of course i am sure others will disagree but i have seen a lot of this fair isle and the south is the better part the south east in particular with the far west coming a close second.

One of the most crowded places in Europe. The only reason there was a drought here was because of the overcrowding, if it wasn't so the less rain would mean very little. Yet, this is one of the most popular places to live, and everyone seems intent on building MORE houses. Bit by bit all the little villages are being turned into bustling towns, and the towns keep expanding. Where I live there has been lots of building on the fringes, none of it wanted by the residents (the opposite is true) and now they're trying to build more, despite that no one wants more here even the council) apart from the building companies, who stand to make a huge profit. It's having an untold effect on the environment down here (as can be seen by the drought, amoung other things). Besides, the prospect of becoming one large conurbation is pleasing no one here.

Depends what part of southern England. Devon is lovely. Houses cost way to much, but the weather is mild and the people are friendly and unlike London we will not be submerged by rising sea water levels. Jobs are seasonal and on the whole the pay is lower than other parts of the south.

At the moment sunny and warm here in Southend-on-Sea. I am originally from Manchester and I love it here in Essex. I can go down to the beach, and its really multi-cultural (not like North Manchester which is 2 opposing camps Pakistani's or Brits) so you get food and cultural influence from all over the world. Its a short train ride into London. Apart from rents it's no more expensive than anywhere else (tesco is tesco, afterall!).

I was born in Gravesend, Kent.
I love the Southeast, despite moving away (career). Problem nowadays is that it's full of illegal immigrants. It's so bad that my mum (who works in a doctor's surgery) has had to hire Punjab, Kosovan and Afghan speaking translators, as the people who come into the country don't bother to learn the language and stop in the southeast. It really is filling up with immigrants.

I live in Devon, South-West England. It's chilled out, nice pubs by the beach, the sun's shining, people are smiling & eating ice creams. Only one problem, tourists, hundreds & millions of them!! lol.
