Lets clear things up!
Ancient Macedonia or Macedon was an ancient Greek kingdom and it was situated in northern Greece!
Today the region of (real) Macedonia is the biggest region of Greece.
Alexander was of course from Greek (real) Macedonia and he was responsible for the biggest expansion of the Greek world.
He was born in the ancient Greek city of Pella capital of the ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedon
He created a colossus Greek empire that stretched from Greece to India.
The modern republic of Slavic- Macedonia
is a Slavic (actually a Slavic/Albanian) country and it has no relation with ancient Macedonia.

At its zenith, Macedonia proper included the region from the Pindos mountains in the west to the Strymon valley in the east. From the Peneios River and the Aegean Sea in the south, it extended to approximately the present-day borders of Greece in the north. Under the Romans, the province of Macedonia stretched from the Adriatic Sea in the west to the river Nestos in the east, and from the northern city of Bylazora to the Spercheios River in the south.

Well the country called MACEDONIA was divided in 1913. Greece has the largest part,Albania has a part and so does Bulgaria! Alexander the great was born in 356BC in Pella which was the capitial of Macedonia at that time! Greeks try to claim that he is greek because that part is under Greece at the present time!! There is only one MACEDONIA!!

There is not Greek Macedonia, that is Aegean Macedonia occupied from Greece, Alexanders Macedonia is whole Macedonia:Pirin, Aegean and Vardar Macedonia.
Macedonia was Kingdom ( 16 provinces- sun of Vergina) when 4 Greeks Tribes come from Africa and they killed between self, Philip of Macedon safe Greeks tribes of Persian occupation and made Hellenic Federation (deal in little place Ellin,Phtia),but that not means Macedonians were Greeks, that is same how to say Macedonians were Persians because Alexander occupied Persia.
