I am VERY worried for her as I`ve never heard of anything like this before. If it`s not epilepsy(the doctors have said they don`t think it is),what else could it be?

I`ve just found out it`s called an MRI scan on the head. Thankyou.

Hello,
I am working with people who suffer from epilepsy and this is the most comom cause of seizures in adults.
Seizures are caused by "miss firing" or repeatedly send electric impulses in the brain. The seizure itself does not cause any harm as such it' s more the symptoms and behaviour patterns that come with it. Some people fall on the floor and can injure themselves for example.
I would not worry to much and wait for the outcome of the brain scan. Epilepsy can be treated and is controllable and can also after some time disappear. Hope that helps a little bit.

My sister had the same, it turned out to be epilepsy, which she never had before the age of 46 then it suddenly came on for no apparent reason, she is on medication for it now and seems fine. Her doctors also didn't think it was epilepsy, only after her scan did they realise it was, so try not to worry too much, although I know it can be difficult, and be there for your friend, it is a very worring time for her.

usually is epilepsy, my brother got it after falling down the stairs, the scan is probably an EEG it isnt bad at all but the goo that stays in your hair is a pain to get rid of! Please send your friend my best wishes, if it turns out to be epilepsy please emphasis the importance of taking meds, eating right and excersizing. My brother passed away 4 days before his 25th birthday, the meds made him gain weight and did nothing about it - he just died, no reason given and its broken our hearts!

It could just be aura, a symptom of migraine. You don't necessarily need to have a headache to suffer from migraine. My daughter has had 2 different types of brain scan & that was the diagnosis. Try not to let your friend see how worried you are, it won't help her & could even make her worse.
