Do these people realise that once they are anaesthetised the gown will probably be lifted up and the body exposed? (In order for the operation to be carried out). Also I wonder about the practicality as during the operation the face will have to be exposed to allow the anaesthetist protect her airway. Why should the NHS be spending money on these when all it needs is for the woman to wear her own scarf or headdress if she desires.

Its stupid. Can you imagine having an operation or some kind of sedation and coming round to finde in bed next to you is a woman in a burkha, you'd think you'd woken up in the morgue. When your in hospital you expect parts of your body to be seen. Burka's should be banned how do you know who is under them?
