I'm in college right now, and I can tell you that it is seriously the biggest scam ever pulled off. People only go because society says you have to. I will *definitely* not use more than half of the classes I need to take. Tuition is outrageous, and the textbooks are literally highway robbery. The whole thing is just so ridiculous and ABSURD!! WHy the hell doesn't everyone stand up to college? I think people need an education, but the way it should be is that for whatever field you go into, you go to a place to learn THAT FIELD! Why take millions of useless classes that you'll never need? It baffles me that with such an obvious money-making scam like college, people still accept it! Can someone please explain to me why we don't stand up to this insane system?

Rona, I've thought of making a website to spread awareness and get people to start standing up against college too. Unfortunately I have no idea how to code. If someone came out with a site for that though it would be amazing.

College is often just a means to maintain established class separations. Any rich family can send their kid to an Ivy league college, it is more about money than merit. And when that kid applies for a job and has Ivy League written in their resume, who gets the job? The rich family has assured that their rich kids will be rich and influential by using money. They have that extra edge over all the poor and middle class students who went to less impressive colleges.

Yes, college has merits because knowledge is power and we should all strive to learn. However, to say that learning is only worthy when you buy it is bogus. I've read and learned more on my own than I ever did in college. All college ever got me was piles of student loan debt. Knowledge is free. I should not have to spend 30,000 to get a job when I can learn that on my own accord. It's just one way to keep the poor people poor!

I completely agree with you. When I was in college I always just sort of went through the motions without taking it too seriously. I didn't think it was worth pouring much money into so I went to a community college and then to a state college close to where I live. It'd be great if we could stand up to them, but it's a massive bureaucracy and nobody in it is going to listen.

The system sucks. Start a movement and I am sure people will be behind you all the way.

I hate the price of books. I think the whole thing is absurd; why should I pay $700.00 on books that I probably won't be able to get to read?

I can definitely see your point as far as money is concerned. This is a part of society that sorts people into their social stations. I really resent how hard I had to work to make money for school and the large debt I still have.
The people who enjoy college are the young spoiled kids whose parents pay their whole ride and buy them expensive toys. College is a big party for them.
