who will be the first to stand up, that is a big problem, in more than just college, the first person who stands up will be the first to get everything, all the negativity, and all the positive, so why not start a petition and get the ball rolling, why not start with you?
it has to start somewhere, all of your points are valid, and you sound like a very smart person who knows what they need as well as what they want, so i would suggest that you take that first leap and do something about it!!
good luck, and be fast, lol i want my kids to go to college once i have them, lol

Yeah! Because!!!
Actually, three reasons. Institution, Standard, and Criticism.
Schools like Yale, and Harvard have existed for over a hundred years. They are institutions that have bred power and influence, just like many others around the world. There is no toppling an institution such as the Universities of the world.
College is a standard measure for the educated and uneducated. Which, as you've stated, doesn't always mean better skills and function.
The reason why people don't stand up to the system is the same reason why we don't stand up to the government. It is an establishment.
It works more ways than one, and it works more than it doesn't.

in most cases college is more about signaling than it is educating, college definately isnt for everyone, but if you choose not to attend- dont expect to have a career in certain fields where a degree is required.
Tip: you can save on books by shopping online, Textbook411.com is th ebest place to do so, it instantly searches all the top online bookstores for the best price on your book, it will save you a tom over the campus store, so STICK IT TO EM!!

People are told there entire lives that your "supposed to go to college". People can't develop there own ideals so they just accept what their parents or society teaches them. Not enough people are willing to go against the grain, that's why. Not just this but for all the issues we face. Look into some sociology.
Peace.

You are taking all those others classes to help round you out as an educated person, you never know you might use some of the stuff you are thinking is nonsense in your field. Somehow everything ties in.

Why? Well, it's actually a choice. You don't have to go to college. But, many people still want something for nothing. You want the 'BIG SALARY', but you don't want to work to get it. That's why you take the arcane classes. They know that they're stupid and you know that they're stupid. But, in order to get what you want, they are teaching you, that you have to work for it. Nothing gets handed to you on a 'Silver Platter'.

I've always wondered that myself & don't have an answer.
I can say that I did'nt let it happen to me (college scam) but instead learned (so far) 3 different trades.
