Well, on a personal basis, i believe Khatami was a missed opportunity. When in power, we had the opportunity to bring talks to Iran. He was open and willing in his want to talk to the west, to re-establish the communications with America that Europe long ago re-established.

In my opinion Khatami was a much better statesman than Ahmedinejad. He was more flexible and open to reform. Unfortunately Iran's religious clerics debarred many of the reformists candidates from participating in elections, that's why we have a conservative president in office nowl. But I hope that the voice of the people can't be suppressed for long, and in next elections the reformists will come back to power.
