Noone here can give you an appraisal without actually seeing the coin. You can seek out some coin appraisal sites online (search "online coin appraisal", "rare coins", etc). ...or visit a coin collecting shop. In general though, coins that are in mint condition have the most value. Considering how old the coin is I would think it would still be worth something if in good condition.

It is listed as KM #1 if it is made of bronze, KM #2 if it is brass, in the Standard Catalog of World Coins by Krause/Mishler. My catalog is a 1995 one, for I collect coins older than that. I need to update though. In fine condition the bronze coin lists for $6.00 and the brass one $3.00, back then. I would say the retail has at least doubled since then, but most dealers only pay 50 or 60 percent of Krause, unless it is a rare item. Neither version is actually rare. I have to use older books sometimes for reference, due to the price of getting a new one every year, also some books have been out of print for years. You do have an interesting piece, I wonder what was going on in the Dominican Rep. in 1844??? Hope I have helped.

Go to your local library and look up the coin in the Krause book of World Coins .
You should figure on less than 1/2 the value listed .
The values they list are retail prices.
Good luck.

Depends on the condition of the coin. It must be in mint condition to be worth anything most of the time.

Is it mint? Most coins are worth trash unless they are mint or rare as hell.
