I'm thinking of selling some of my old stuff on there, but would like opinions please. Have you sold anything using e bay? Do you find the site any good for selling? Were you paid fairly and promptly?

I await your responses. Thankyou in anticipation.

Yes, I agree with a lot of the answers already posted. Charges are relatively high, as a seller you are fairly immune from fraud, only accept cheques or money orders then you can wait for cash to clear in your account. Do not accept credit cards, costs even more. Unless your selling a lot do not use paypal. You can only draw down a minimum of £50.00 whith out incurring more charges and invariably you will always leave a balance in your paypal account which you can't get hld of and they earn interest on. Always make sure you make money on postage, personally I use a carrier, that way you can track delivery and the price is always fixed. You don't need an account. Just find one close to you, go and see them, find out what their charges are and when you use them pay by cash or cheque.

Yes, it's great!

I've never had any problems, but a friend of mine did. He sold a ipod, he received the cheque, cashed it, waited for it to clear, then sent the goods. The day after he sent the goods the cheque was pulled, and the address was a bit bogus.

I think you can specify to people with little or know feedback that you will only except Postal orders, these are exactly the same as cash and can be bought or cashed at the Post Office.

Also if you are in no hurry to sell anything, load turbo lister from eBay, and load everything you want to sell on to it, and the wait for eBay to have a special offer on, like 5p listing.

I have sold stuff on there before but to be honest, unless you've got a lot of spare time on your hands, I woulnd't bother.

Firstly you have to set up the items you're selling - take photos, load them onto your PC, put them on ebay, add descriptions, add postage costs (v confusing now that royal mail have changed everything!).

That in iteself literally takes ages.

Once that's done, it's mildly exciting watching to see if you've had any bids and if anyone's watching your items.

However, once the auction is complete you then have the ordeal of packaging everything up and posting it! Also, some things don't sell which is annoying.

Plus don't forget you have to pay ebay a percentage of the winning bid.

Yawn!! Do a carboot sale!

reality......A Wastemaster or Waste Hog for traveling caravans. They retail between £39.ninety 5 and £50 new in case you save around. maximum of them sell for nicely over £20 on Ebay and maximum are series in basic terms. i became into after one for months yet became into no longer arranged to pay extra beneficial than £18 for a 2d hand one. I lost out that many circumstances I gave up finding. i eventually bought one from a pal who's a member of the the club i'm in for £10 as he now no longer mandatory it and altered to a different style of waste water field. positioned a seek in on Ebay and locate out for your self. Caravans at the instant are not promoting yet those waste water boxes are.

Wafflebox is too right!
You can make some money if your stuff isn't "tat" though. Just start everything off at 99p to reduce the listing fees, but it's worth spending 15p for a photo, as most don't look at items unless there's a photo in the listings.
Don't accept cheques. Use Paypal only - again you will have to pay to receive your money, but at least it's secure.
You will also get your fair share of tossers who don't read the write ups and ask very stupid questions via the email system.

EBay is brilliant, I sell stuff all the time and once you get use to using it, it becomes so easy. Pay-pal is the way to go to guarantee payment. I've sold and bought over a 100 items with no problems at all.
Before you throw anything out put it on eBay first, you'll be amazed at what stuff people buy.
Good luck.

P.S. it takes a bit of setting up but it is worth it, but make sure the items that you have for sale are selling or you will be paying listing fees for nothing. GOOD LUCK

For the most part it's not bad. Just make sure you are accurate about your postage costs. If your not, you could wind up going in the whole. I did great with it. I have only ever had one person that didn't pay and I have been doing it for three years. It's not hard and I have met so many great people around the world. I would say give it a try! You might find that you really like it!!!

eBay is the largest online marketplace and one of the most popular ways to earn an income from home with a PC and internet connection. Selling on eBay is inexpensive and easy to start. Ebay has a number of tools for sellers to maximise sales. These are eBay Pulse, Hot items report, merchandising calendar. By sourcing products at a low price, you can increase your profit. Yes i have sold many things on ebay and found it very good for selling, give a clear description of the goods being sold and details of types of payment required, and the golden rule is NEVER DESPATCH THE GOODS UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES. the best way to receive payments is by paypal but they do take a percentage of the price you sell your item for,
