American film actor Mickey Rooney (born Joseph Yule, Jr.,on September 23, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York) was the young actor who starred in the Boys Town movie. His breakthrough serious role came in 1938's Boys Town opposite Spencer Tracy as Whitey Marsh (who was then 38 years old ). Boys Town opened shortly before Mickey Rooney 18th birthday.
Acting most of his life, he has become a genuine legend, remembered as the most successful box office star of 1939, the greatest year in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Since 2005, Rooney has been described as the longest-working major actor in the history of motion pictures.
