Honestly its not anymore dangerous, just be honorable and humble and blend in more. Assume the demeanor and actions.
We american have a tendency to be very self serving and carry ourselves as if we are better than others. That really offends most cultures. We don't know any better- hence stupid americans per say.
Always remember that saying when in ROME do as the Romans do and you shall not be assumed an enemy of Rome, yet a visitor.

are you brain dead? have you not been listening to the news? stay out of that region it's open hunting season on Americans.
These people kill for the thrill of killing that's all they do then try to color it with religious propoganda, but, those of us who can see through that know that travel to the middle-east is dangerous and unless you have a death wish I would find somewhere else to visit.
