They will not go away until the huge pile of questions that still exist are sufficiently answered by the Bush junta. There are literally hundreds of questions that are unanswered. Not that those questions are unjustified, nonsense, frivolous or thoughtless. They are questions that have a base in reality and have several possible answers. There have been so many things that the government didn't do that are standard operating procedures in even slightly questionable car accidents or insurance cases that are investigated for months and years. Why is a national disaster like 9/11 not investigated until we know the very last about what happened in every minute leading up to the demolition of the buildings, during the demolition and after it. We have to know why we were not warned, but all the Jew in the building were warned. Things like that ... basic , annoying questions.

Once those are answered the conspiracy theories will go away and conspiracy will become established facts. It might bring down the Bush junta and some other (so called) governments too, but that might just be a healthy process and the epitome of democracy in a (then again) free society.

The evidence of the 'investigation trail' is very public. You can find the 9-11 Commission report online at their web site, and you can buy a copy at nealy any bookstore.

But we'll never be rid of the looney lefties conspiracy theories simply because they are not interested in the truth, just their own agenda of blame America first.

The information is under a 30 years embargo over leakage of secret information.
You will know the facts after expiry of the embargo or after fulfillment of the desired goals of USA in the region i.e. Iraq and Afghanistan.
Iran was the next target but the first two targets have proved too hard to crack for America.
9/11 was a prelude to all what is happening today and is planned for tomorrow. Wait and see.

Well, the conspiracy theories regarding the Holocaust, the moon landing, JFK, and the death (or not) of Elvis haven't gone anywhere.

So I'd say that the subject is never going to be "squashed," regardless.

Any conspiracy theory or speculation on any subject will never end. That is the whole point of gossip and rumor. It seems to be what the world is based its whole theory on. Just human nature I suppose. Books have been written on the subject.

Conspiracy theoriest don't care about "the facts." To most conspiracy theoriests the facts are annoy issues for them to deal with until they can figure out a way to manipulate them to justify their insane arguments. I am sure there will be moron's stating George Bush caused 9/11 just like their our moron's today trying to get you to believe that FDR let the attack on Pearl Harbor happened (see http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/6315/pearl.html ). That sad thing is that these conspiracy theorist do fool people from time to time. Its really sad.

As long as people like to babble about it, it will continue...they are still talking about the conspiracies against Lincoln. It is not always in the best interests of any government to over-inform people, whether it is to hide things or prevent problems....Could people handle the truth?

Probably not,, think there are still people talking about some sort of UFO crash in Roswell NM and that was over 50 years ago. They still have some people that think Hitler survived and died of old age. Give it a few thousand years, and then it will be a requirement in History Classes...

Conspiracy theorists don't look at actual evidence. Where's the fun in that? Plus, if you have a conspiracy theory and you write a book about it, you can make some money.
