Surely this depends on the quality of both in question?
A sofa gives you more room and if the movie proves to be really dull, you can always lie down and have a nap.
Normally I end up sitting on the floor when I watch TV though.

I'm gonna say sofa too, although technically - not.
We've got a sofa-bed, so me and my bf pull it out and lie on it to watch movies, most comfy way!

A sofa, it's bigger, you're able to lie down, you have room to cuddle with someone... or whatever else strikes your fancy.
