Sorry, was a bit unclear. Whats the minimum amount of numbers there have to be in a regular 9x9 sudoku before you start in order to be able to solve it?

A solution has been found which requires only 17 hints, provided that those 17 are chosen carefully. This is not always sufficient, though. It's easy to create a soduko with 77 hints and still no unique solution. With 78 hints you can always solve it.

u need 9 los of 9 numbers or 9x9 which, of course, equals 81.
