Q: Can you sneeze with your eyes open?

A: Some people can sneeze with their eyes open and some people can’t. Sneezing is a reflex and so is closing our eyes. We have no control over whether or not we close our eyes when we sneeze. Some people don’t have reflex, so when they sneeze then their eyes won’t close. Some people try to close their eyes so when they sneeze their eyes won’t pop out. Your eyes don’t really pop out. People without the reflex to sneeze with their eyes open can try to train themselves to sneeze with their eyes open. One good way to do this is if when you sneeze you hold your eyes open.

People think that when you close your eyes when you sneeze that you are blocking germs and bacteria. That is not true because your eyes deal with germs all the time. If you close your eyes during a sneeze, then it is just a reflex. During this part of the sneeze, we tense some of our muscles. The tensing (tightening) of our muscles causes our eyes to shut.

People that sneeze a lot can prevent sneezing. If you feel a sneeze, then use saline solution. You can also softly hold your nose at the end. These things can help your body remove things it does not want without sneezing.

No one knows the reason you close your eyes when you sneeze. There are many possibilities. Some people think it is to protect your eyes from flying goop. Most doctors think that it is still a reflex, or we just can’t help it.

Sneezing is very good for you and your body because it removes things from your body like bacteria and germs. It also is good because it keeps the tubes that carry the air from your nose to the lungs healthy. Sneezing makes your nose clear when you have a cold. If you used to hate sneezing, then I hope this has changed your mind.

If you are able to do it , then you have a special talent and should be congratulating yourself.Check closely if it is sneezing or masking for a cough episode. It is an involuntary reflux and if your really can keep eyes open, I am sure they wont pop out .Sneezing is caused in most allergies and cold as a reaction or infection and when a foreign substance, mostly that we are not used to gets onto the sensitive membranes of the inside of the nose, we eject out by sneezing. Check up an ENT specialist or allergy specialist or you physician.

(You have fishing poles in the background of your avatar. Cool.)

If you sneeze and have your eyes open, your eyes won't fall out. But, considering the optical connection between the eyes and how sunlight triggers sneezing, leaving your eyes open might cause abnormal interference ripples in the quantum foam of the Universe. Every time people like you do such an outrage . . .deliberately and unnaturally force your eyes to remain open during a sneeze, who knows what new photonic abomination is created in the aberrational vortexes. It's immoral. I'm sorry. It's clearly immoral. I'll pray for you.

I believe the popping out eye thing only happens with some of those small popped out eyes lap dogs. Sometimes if they jump around their eyes will pop out I have been told and the owner has to put it back in gently. The question I have is what happens to the poor doggie if they are not around and do they get an eye patch? This is an example of why not to inbreed anything and why unnatural selective breeding can be a bad thing. Are you inbred seriously badly and do your eyes all ready almost come out of the sockets on their own? Do you have leprosy I do remember this song my mother use to sing as a child I have leprosy I have leprosy my eyeball is in my highball
