He was clearly seen picking at the seam with his thumbnail, and yet referee Mike Proctor has decided to take no action. Are the Pakistani bowlers a law unto themselves?

OK Wesley, England have been comprehensively outplayed by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the 0ne-dayers. Now, what about my question, on which the result of the match has no bearing.

Mr Akhtar, in the current climate of allegations of ball tampering, it was a bit silly to attempt to clean the seam with his thumbnail. I agree with Nasser Hussian's view on this that Mr Akhtar was stupid. Bob Woolmer, the Pakistani Manager said a few days ago that any change by way of sweat or fingernails should be allowed(but this is not law yet). ICC needs to sort out the area of ball tampering once and for all and quickly.

Yeah it looked sus. There was some very dodgy photos in most of today's papers as well. He would have had to be made to do it though after the last fortnight.
However, he has been cleared, they have agreed he was removing dirt from the seam. However the laws state bowlers are permitted to do this, but UNDER UMPIRE SUPERVISION, not whilst walking back to their bowling mark.
As for all the people who have made bad loser remarks, get over it and grow up!! He didn't say anything about them cheating to win, or similar. It was a question of people's opinions about whether he was tampering with the ball or not.

It is well known that for at least the last 20 years Pakistanis have doctored the ball, using so called hair creams and such like, they have always got away with it because until Darrel Hare, all the umpires and decision makers have been spineless tools of the so called ICC which is under the control of the Asian countries

Have your knolwdge up dated my dear! Cleaning the ball is not ball tempering otherwise Mike Proctor is not blind and under the climate of recent ball tempering allegations he will go two step further to punish not only Shoaib but the whole Pakistan team. And for assholes like Stephenp I would love to debate with you on "Who is actually ruling the ICC? Its bloody Aussies who has been ruling the ICC since 1926 when they deprived U.S.A to become the ICC member while infact the U.S.A was the only foruth cricket playing nation then after England, South Africa and Australia. If you want more details come on talk to me I will prove it that ICC is just a sub office of Australian Cricket Board.

He was breaking the law, no doubt, you cannot use your nail on the ball, period.

But he was also clearly not tampering with the ball, just removing some dirt or something from it, you can tell by it was a short shape flick.

He should have taken the ball to the umpires for them to do it.

Yes they are! How many times can this happen and nothing gets done about it???Its a disgrace and its cheating! How many times has Shoaib been pulled by the I.C.C? TWICE and he blatantly continues to cheat, removing dust my ****. I play and love cricket and these cheats are just going to destroy the integrity of the game.
