It's a Ying/Yang thing.
The Dark side is ruled by the heart where the Light side is ruled by the head.
Jedis could do bad things but they have the restraint to resist.
Siths have poor will power but their emotions really do kick butt and they have some nasty force powers.
In conclusion, both the same.

The dark area comes over as being extra advantageous, Luke has to rather combat to end himself going over to the dark area. The maximum useful component to the dark area is anger.
